This month’s major news has come from two sectors – Asia and the Telecom sector.
Total Telecom has, after approximately eight years, gone back to being an online only format. The announcement came shortly after the year’s biggest mobile technology trade show, MWC, which highlights the difficulty in obtaining advertising spend.
In Asia, however, EDN found a new parent with the medical devices publisher Canon purchasing the title and its websites. Canon also recently purchased EDN’s US title.
Unfortunately, the good news for EDN wasn’t followed for Nikkei and the Chinese version of the magazine has shut. We also understand Nikkei may or may not sign a new contract for EEPW magazine.
On a more upbeat note, however. The EE Times group is growing its portfolio to significantly enhance its social media presence. The new service, called EE Life, should go live later this year.
