Reed Business Information, a division of Reed Elsevier Inc., is about to lose its involvement with electronics trade media publishing, a number of sources claimed earlier today.
According to industry observers, the digital magazine and web site, EPN, which celebrated its 40th anniversary during Electronica in Munich last November, will close, although the exact date of the final edition has not yet been announced. Reed was apparently approached about selling the EPN brand but that the publisher declined to enter into discussions on the subject.
We were also told that EDN Europe, the digital magazine currently published by Reed Business Information under license from UBM Electronics, is to move to Brussels-based European Business Press SA, of which André Rousselot is Group Publisher. European Business Press currently publishes EE Times Europe and Microwave Engineering Europe in both print and online versions.
Reed sold the UK electronics newspaper, Electronics Weekly, to business and consumer press publisher Metropolis last year.
