The dramatic growth of the solid state lighting (SSL) industry has led Hearst Electronic Group to launch www.lightingdeveloper.com, a site to help engineers quickly find LEDs, optics, drivers and tools for development of SSL applications. The site, the main sponsor of which is Digi-Key, incorporates parametric search engines with device-compare capabilities coupled in a design chain so that an engineer can quickly find complete lighting solutions. The search can start with a reference design, and subsequent search engines for LEDs, optics, drivers and tools in the design chain are each linked to each other. This produces a bill of materials that links to the Digi-Key shopping cart for fulfillment. Engineers can also save project files and research in “My Project” folders on the site for reference and quick recall.
