Microsemi and Plessey lead the way as Publitek clients secure record number of Elektra Award nominations

Marked by the annual Elektra Awards next week, the festive season for the electronics industry is in full swing. This year, Publitek has secured a record 25 client nominations for the 2017 Elektra Awards. Microsemi and Plessey top the leaderboard, with both companies shortlisted in four categories. Incredibly, nearly a third of the total nominations are for Publitek clients who are represented in 14 of the 18 categories.

There’s little more satisfying than letting a client know they’ve been shortlisted for an award – other than actually winning it of course! As an account director, the time and effort that goes into preparing an award; briefing calls to get product or team information, obtaining accompanying images and supporting materials as well as submitting the entry, is all worth it when I see my client’s name on the shortlist. It really makes my day breaking the good news to them.

For clients, industry awards are often the highlight of a busy year. A nomination for a respected accolade (like the BEEAs, Elektras, ACE Awards, etc.) gives validation to your company’s efforts and will impress your customers. It is also a great boost to staff morale. Make sure you let everyone in the company know about it; sharing details internally of your nominated product or team is a good way to communicate best practice within your organisation.

Of course, there’s usually an event to attend so make sure you are represented at it. Awards dinners are a great place to meet influencers and make new contacts in your industry. You can use the opportunity to invite potential or existing clients to attend and cement your relationship with them.

Don’t forget the PR opportunities which surround awards: you can announce your awards success in a press release, use ‘winner’ logos on your products, email signature and website, and you can speak with the press about your win. Comment in social media and make sure you have any relevant hashtags to hand too.
