Reed Business International has agreed to sell Electronics Weekly to Metropolis International. The editorial and sales teams will move to Metropolis’ Croydon (UK) offices after the sale completes on July 31, 2012. Reed is selling IBIS Worldwide Academic and Library File (WALF) to Metropolis at the same time.
Rumours of Electronics Weekly being put up for sale have been around for a few years as Reed accelerates its move away from traditional magazine publishing to paid content and online subscription based data sales.
Metropolis International is a consumer and travel media owner, with print, digital and face-to-face activities and a reward and benefits programme. It employs more than 200 people in offices in West London, Croydon, Lancashire, Devon, Dublin and New York. Metropolis is looking for further acquisition.
