UBM Electronics (previously known as EE Times Group, previously known as TechInsights……) has lost one of its most established and respected editors, Patrick Mannion, to Hearst, publisher of Electronic Products. It feels like Patrick has been at EE Times forever but he did do a spell as communications editor at Electronic Design and was previously a staff editor on Electronic Products, although that was longer ago than I can remember.

He joins Hearst as director of content on December 13th. Even a year ago, this might have caused EE Times more problems than it will today. I’m sure he’ll be sorely missed but the editorial team has been strengthened enormously in recent months with the return of Brian Fuller and a host of other experienced editors.
With EE Times having acquired the whole EDN editorial team when UBM bought Canon, I’m sure the editorial musical chairs will continue for some time yet.
